Program Updates

While the path to reopening youth hockey in Michigan remains unclear, we are optimistic we will receive guidance from the State of Michigan very soon.  We do know with the governors most recent announcement we can begin dry land training.  Our coaches are willing and ready to work with players outside.  Some teams plan to begin as early as next week and will be reaching out to players registered in the 19-20 season.  All are welcome to participate.  Dates, locations and times will be posted on the GFHA website.  We do ask that you complete an online registration before participating in the summer dry land training.

We are hopeful the rinks will be open soon.  We are in close communication with Crystal Fieldhouse and will let you know as soon as the ice is ready, and the kids can skate again.  We know the upcoming season will look different than previous seasons.  MAHA is proactively preparing for a return to the rinks, and ice hockey in Michigan, for the 2020-21 season. MAHA developed a task force to create a safe environment for players and spectators.

The MAHA Task Force has been divided into five (5) subcommittees:

1)    Programming & Innovation

2)    Rink Management

3)    Association Management

4)    Administration

5)    Policy Setting (District, State & National)

While each of these subcommittees will cover separate categories, all subcommittees will collaborate to provide all families a safe, enjoyable return to the rink.

We know this has been a challenging time and we look forward to seeing the kids together on the ice once again.  Thank you for your continued support.
